Designed in the late 1960s by British designer and art director Alan Fletcher, the Clam Box is a playful and graphic storage container, published by Mebel in Italy. Inspired by the shape of Edam cheese, it is made of two identical moulded plastic halves that interlock via a clever serrated-edge system.
Published by Mebel in Italy, the box comes in bright, contrasting colours, red, blue, yellow, black, white, echoing the pop aesthetic of the period. Perfect as a catch-all, jewellery holder or desk accessory, it reflects how graphic design can transform everyday objects into visually striking pieces.
