Pair of ID-S floor lamps designed by Ettore Sottsass for Zumtobel, Austria, circa 1987.

Made of white lacquered metal, each lamp stands on a slender stem fixed to a rectangular base with three small wheels for easy mobility. Fitted with a halogen light source, the design reflects Sottsass's search for balance between industrial rigor and formal purity, characteristic of his work in the 1980s.

This pair illustrates the collaboration between the Italian designer and Austrian lighting manufacturer Zumtobel, a benchmark in architectural and technical lighting.
