Ettore Sottsass (1917 - 2017)
An architect and major designer of the XXth century, Etore Sottsass will develop his own style, through his encounters (Gio Ponti, Georges Nelson) and his discoveries (Pop Art), often in opposition to the precepts of his time. He is at the origin of many iconic pieces, including the most famous, his Ultrafragola mirror (1970) and its ultra-sensual lines.
In 1980, he founded the Memphis group. The use of colorful, inexpensive materials combined in an innovative way brings a breeze of joy and renewal to the design.
