The Memphis Group, a revolution in the world of design, emerged in the 1980s with unparalleled exuberance. Their creations were hybrid pieces, halfway between art and design, capable of captivating an entire room with their bold geometry and vibrant colors. Memphis, a true "supergroup" of design, redefined the rules of furnishing by offering a deliberately extravagant aesthetic, challenging minimalist norms.
One of the gems of this era is the Stanhope bed, designed by American architect Michael Graves in 1982 for Memphis. With its extravagantly arranged geometric shapes and rejection of minimalism, this bed embodies the bold spirit of postmodern architecture.
Made from lacquered wood, briar veneer, and mirror, it features integrated glass bedside tables topped with lamps.
