Robert et Jean Cloutier

Robert et Jean Cloutier (1930 - 2008)
To dive into the world of Robert and Jean Cloutier, the twin brothers of French ceramics, is to immerse in an abundant and dreamlike universe.
Initially engaged by Pol Chambost, they opened their own workshop in 1955. Their prolific production distinguishes by the mastery of enamels, whose red "Cloutier" will become signature, by works populated with characters and animals of all kinds, and by the creation of pieces of monumental decoration like the "claustra" with heads of bulls or even the Tree of Jessée (Adam and Eve and the original sin).
The Cloutier brothers never stop revisiting their creation with sincerity, in their Marsillargues workshop until their death (2008 and 2015), leaving behind a poetic work full of surprises.
