Model 675 armchair designed in the 1950s by Robin and Lucienne Day and manufactured by Airborne in France.
Each chair stands on a slender black lacquered tubular metal base. The backrest, made of molded bent plywood, is the defining element of the design. Its wide, gently enveloping shape provides support while creating a fluid and structured silhouette. Only the seat is padded with foam and upholstered in red faux leather. Seat height: 18.1 inches.
The contrast between the visual lightness of the metal base, the sculptural presence of the molded wooden back and the solid seat surface reflects the modernist language developed by Robin and Lucienne Day in the 1950s. Model 675 embodies their approach to rational, accessible and formally distinctive furniture.
