Zaisu chair designed by Kenji Fujimori for Tendo Mokko in 1963.
Created for traditional Japanese interiors, this floor chair features a continuous silhouette formed from a single bentwood sheet. Produced in either beech or zelkova veneer depending on the example, it reflects the bentwood expertise developed by Tendo Mokko in the post-war period. The gently reclined backrest ensures natural comfort, while the circular opening in the seat keeps a cushion in place.
An iconic example of 1960s Japanese design, this Zaisu combines formal restraint, visual lightness and technical precision.
Cushions can be made upon request for an additional fee, or the chair shell may be purchased alone.
Several pieces available in different wood species.
Original Tendo Mokko label present under some examples.
