Wood sculpture, Brian Willsher, United Kingdom, circa 1970.

Hand-carved solid mahogany abstract sculpture, composed of interlocking volumes and a perfectly balanced geometric rhythm. The undulating forms interact in a play of light and shadow, with the wood grain enhancing the sense of movement and depth.

Brian Willsher (1930-2010), a self-taught British sculptor, emerged in the 1960s as a distinctive figure of organic modernism. His work, bridging sculpture and design, is defined by formal precision and material sensuality. Some of his pieces are part of the Victoria and Albert Museum's collection in London.
