  • René Martin

Circular coffee table designed by René Martin, a cabinetmaker and designer active in the French Alps during the 1960s, where he collaborated with Charlotte Perriand on the furnishing of the Méribel ski resort.

Made of solid pine, it features a large circular top resting on four log legs. Its simple and sturdy silhouette reflects the mountain aesthetic central to René Martin's work, where furniture was conceived to be both functional and welcoming. The use of pine and the pared-down geometry give this piece a sculptural presence, in keeping with the modernist spirit of French ski resorts.

Provenance: Méribel.
France, circa 1960.
