Very Rare 4 - Doors "Bloc" Sideboard by Charlotte Perriand, Cansado, circa 1962.
REF: 5488
Charlotte Perriand was a prominent French designer, who worked closely with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret in the early 20th century. She was known for her innovative approach to furniture design and for integrating functionality, comfort, and aesthetics into her work.
The "Bloc" sideboard, here in a rare version with 4 doors, was designed specifically for the directors' flats in Cansado, Mauritania, which makes it a rare and prestigious piece of furniture. Its cubic shape, mahogany top, base and shelves, and black lacquered steel legs give it a modern and sophisticated look, while the black and white melamine doors add visual interest.
Steph Simon Gallery manufactured the sideboard around 1962, which places it firmly in the mid-century modern era. The fact that it was designed for a limited audience and has a high-quality finish further adds to its value as a collector's item.
Manufactured by Steph Simon Gallery, circa 1962.
