"Nuage" wall-mounted shelving designed by Charlotte Perriand for the housing of the Cansado mining town, developed for MIFERMA in Mauritania in the early 1960s.

Crafted in mahogany veneer with black lacquered steel supports, this modular composition is formed by long horizontal shelves carried by a sequence of vertical uprights. Its modular construction allows a variety of configurations, offering exceptional flexibility while maintaining a refined architectural lightness.

Conceived as a system rather than a single piece of furniture, the "Nuage à plots" shelving reflects Charlotte Perriand's research into modular furniture and the integration of domestic equipment within architecture. Developed for the Cansado housing program, it translates her principles of flexibility, structural clarity and economy of means into one of the most accomplished examples of her industrial furniture designs.

Manufacturer: Steph Simon, circa 1962.
Provenance : Cansado
