Susi Berger (1938 - 2019)
Susi Berger, born in 1938 in Switzerland, is a renowned designer known for her creative and innovative approach to design. After studying graphic design, she transitioned into the design field and formed an influential partnership with her husband, Ueli Berger. Together, they created iconic pieces that merge functionality and aesthetics. Among their most famous creations are the Cloud Sofa (1972), a modular and organic piece, and the Cloud Lamp (1970), a light fixture with a fluid and poetic design. These works embody their vision of design as a space for freedom and expression. They also designed the Stack of Drawers (1981), a modular dresser combining simplicity with innovation. Alongside their collaboration, Susi Berger worked independently as a graphic designer and developed color and material concepts for interior projects. Her influence on Swiss design is undeniable, and her work continues to inspire contemporary designers. In 2018, a retrospective of her works was held at the Museum für Gestaltung in Zurich, highlighting the lasting impact of her design vision.
