Ash "Bloc" Sideboard by Charlotte Perriand, Cansado, circa 1960

REF: 7011

Sideboard known as "Bloc" with four doors, designed by Charlotte Perriand for the mining town of Cansado in Mauritania, circa 1962.

This rare iteration distinguishes itself through the use of ash wood for the top and interior shelves, infusing the piece with a natural warmth. The black lacquered sheet metal base and legs provide a striking contrast to the white and grey melamine doors, embodying Perriand's signature balance of simplicity and functionality.

A particularly noteworthy feature is its exclusivity: this version was produced in a limited series specifically for the residences and offices of the mining company's directors. This tailored design reflects a heightened attention to materials and finishes, enhancing its distinctive character.

Manufacturer: Galerie Steph Simon, circa 1960.
